Bradford Creger earned the CFS® designation in May 2008. The Certified Fund Specialist® (CFS®) designation was created in 1988 and is awarded by The Institute of Business & Finance (IBF) for expertise in mutual funds and the mutual fund industry. The Certified Fund Specialist® designation is one of the oldest certification designations in the mutual fund industry.
To earn the CFS® designation Individuals must have a bachelor's degree or 2,000 hours of financial services work experience. A six-module self-study program provided by IBF is also a pre-requisite for taking the CFS® exam which is designed to provide specialists with current market information on mutual funds, exchange-traded funds (ETFs), real estate investment trusts (REITs), closed-end funds and other similar retail investment offerings. The self-study program also includes material on advanced fund analysis and fund selection, asset allocation, portfolio construction, risk management, taxes and estate planning.
