Ron "The Penguin" Cey serves BFF in the dual role of Vice President, Business Development & Relationship Manager for Professional Baseball as well as BFF's "in-house" celebrity spokesperson for our 360áµ’ Fiduciary-Centric™ Retirement Plan solution which includes our 3(16) Professional Fiduciary Administration team. Ron is also currently employed by the Los Angeles Dodgers in their public relations department/speaker’s bureau.
Ron, nicknamed “The Penguin”, played 17 seasons in Major League Baseball primarily with the Los Angeles Dodgers (1971 to 1982) and the Chicago Cubs (1983 to 1986). He played a final season with the Oakland Athletics in 1987. Ron anchored the Dodgers’ infield at third base and earned a position on the National League All-Star team for six consecutive seasons from 1974 to 1979.
In 1981, as the Dodgers won the World Series defeating the New York Yankees in game 6 at Dodger Stadium, Ron was honored for his World Series performance as the Co-MVP along with fellow Dodger players Steve Yeager and Pedro Guerrero. In 1981, Ron also won the Babe Ruth Award which is given by the New York chapter of the Baseball Writers Association of America to the Major League Baseball player with the best performance in the post season.
In 1982, Ron won the Lou Gehrig Memorial Award which is given annually to the player who best exemplifies Gehrig’s character and integrity both on and off the field. Ron currently lives in Woodland Hills, CA with his wife Fran. They were married in 1971 and have two children, Daniel and Amanda. They also have three beautiful grandchildren.
